Program learning outcomes

1. Students will identify and discuss the historical, theoretical, and philosophical foundations of outdoor learning and recreation with awareness of the field’s potential for addressing complex social and environmental issues toward greater human and ecological flourishing.

2. Students will demonstrate competence in planning, facilitating, and assessing outdoor and environmental learning experiences for diverse audiences in varied settings.   

3. Students will plan and facilitate quality, inclusive outdoor recreation experiences that demonstrate technical skill proficiency, ecological sensitivity, appropriate risk management, and social and cultural awareness.

4. Students will integrate foundational theories, educational models, and conservation practices by applying effective design and management strategies in the development and evaluation of outdoor learning and recreation programs. 

5. Students will communicate effectively through writing.
