University Policy

All students must meet the requirements stated in the Undergraduate Degrees, Minors, and Credit-Bearing Certificates Policy and the Credit Requirements Policy, including the following:

UMD residency credit requirements for undergraduate degrees include a minimum of 30 semester credits; 15 credits of the last 30 credits; and half of upper-division (3xxx-level or higher) credits that satisfy major requirements.
Undergraduate degree program requirements also include completion of the Liberal Education Program and no more than 20 S/N semester credits.
The University of Minnesota (UMN) GPA required for graduation is a minimum of 2.00, which is cumulative and includes only University of Minnesota coursework from all campuses. Each UMD major, minor, and certificate requires a minimum program GPA of 2.00, which includes transfer coursework meeting requirements for the academic program.
If pursuing multiple programs that include overlapping coursework, students must complete a minimum number of non-overlapping credits for each additional program.

Program Requirements

This major does not require a second field of study (e.g., minor, major, degree); however, a second field of study is possible with this major, and international study abroad participation is also possible (but not required). Consult with an advisor if interested in combining this major with a second field of study and/or with a study abroad experience.
Completion of all courses specified for the major with a minimum cumulative 2.00 GPA (including transfer work). No grades lower than C- in upper division core courses required for the major.
Compliance with general regulations governing granting of degrees. Students are required to review their degree status in the CEHSP Advising & Academic Services Office early in their senior year.
