The Learning in Community requirement will be waived for transfer students with at least 30 credits taken post-high school and for UMD students who started in a UMD program where this was not required. Music majors at UMD are expected to progress to the level of advanced performance in applied music by the end of the sophomore year and to successfully complete the advanced standing juries at this time. Before music majors are allowed to register for Applied Instruction - Upper Division lessons, they must pass the advanced standing performance exam. Students must enroll in MU 300 Advanced Standing Exam the semester that they will be taking the exam. Advanced Standing Examination requirements may be found on the Department of Music web site.
