Completion requirement

This is the first required course in the French Studies minor. Students with prior language study or near-native fluency should consult with the department about completing a departmental exam to earn credit for FR 1202 or substituting a different course from the Electives to earn these four credits.

To enroll in the Elective courses taught in French, a student must have the Language Core through FR 1202 or have instructor consent. With French Studies faculty prior approval, courses taken abroad may count toward the minor Electives requirement.

FR 2315 and FR 3550 are taught in English, and only one of these two courses may be used for the Electives requirement. Students must take at least one Electives course in French from UMD faculty.
