ACCT 5701 - Accounting Data Analytics (3 Cr.)
Course description
This course provides students with large-scale financial reporting and capital market information databases and to improve students' quantitative analytical and problem-solving skills in conjunction with accounting data. The course will address financial reporting and corporate governance topics related to business analytics, auditing, capital marketing efficiency, board structure, and SEC enforcement. Prior coding experience is not required. Students will gain hands-on-data query, data analysis, and data visualization experience using MySQL, Excel, Power BI , and Tableau. Students will learn how to apply scientific research methods to answer questions, present solutions, and discuss limitations. The class also provides a brief overview of the concepts of probability and statistical inference.
