GIS 3574 - Geospatial Analysis with Software-as-a-Service (4 Cr.)

Geography (10400) DCLA - College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences

Course description

Geographical Information Systems (GISs) continue to evolve as technology advances and societal needs change. One of the largest evolutions in the field has been from desktop (physical desktop, laptop or virtual machines) to web-based (software-as-a-service) solutions. The aim of this course is to expose students to software-as-a-service applications of GIS for environmental, sustainability, and urban contexts. Specifically, students will gain hands-on experience with the latest technological advancements from ESRI, including ArcGIS GeoPlanner, Dashboard, Insights, Urban, among others. This class is specifically designed for students who enjoyed GIS 2552, and want to learn how to leverage the power of GIS without the technical specificity of desktop software.
