Course description

The purpose of this course is to familiarize students with the basic concepts of personal finance at an introductory level with the overall goal of improving students' financial literacy. Topics discussed will include budget development, the time value of money, the use and management of common forms of debt such as student loans, credit cards and mortgages, and an introduction to saving and investing. Evaluation of current financial events and discussion of ethical issues in finance will also entail a significant portion of the course.
