Course description
This course will cover the concepts related to the development of medical devices including biocompatiblility of materials, prototyping medical devices, identifying unmet clinical needs, regulatory requirements, intellectual property protection, and reimbursement. Throughout the term of the semester students will apply these concepts to a project where they will develop a medical device concept to address an unmet clinical need.
pre-req: ME 2105, BSME or BSIE upper division or MSEM or MSME candidate, or instructor consent
